Louise's Wing Clipped

Just wanted you guys to know that Mom was in a bad accident last night. She was on her way home from my place after we had enjoyed a great day together and she ended up smacking into the cement median head-on at Crosstown by Penn Avenue. The ambulance took her to Fairview Southdale right down the road. She broke her left arm just below where the arm fits into the shoulder socket. Because of the position of the break, they haven't casted it but instead have fit her with an elaborate sling in classic black. She's in amazingly good spirits (must be the pain killers she's on) and recovering at home. Other than her arm, she didn't have any other injuries. The paramedics said it was amazing she walked away from the accident because her car was totalled (we haven't seen the car yet but evidently the entire front end is kaput). She probably won't be checking the blog for awhile but just wanted you guys to know. Hope all is well with you all!

Louise & Marie,
This is so scary! I am so relieved to hear that Louise is recovering home in bed! Louise, sounds like you have an angel watching over you! When Jess had her accident (rollover), I told her she had a band of angels watching over her. Thank you, angels!

I think I held my breath as I first read this ... Wow! Louise, you are so very lucky. Thank goodness you are OK. A little worse for the wear with the broken arm -- but that will heal. I've driven through that area lately and it is a nasty stretch in the daytime, let alone after dark. So sorry it reached out and made a mess of your vehicle and "wing."

Heal quickly!!!! It helps being a tough little Greek bird with all that spunk. Keep your spirits up. I'm sending good healing thoughts through the air.

Just a quick update to say that Mom's arm is healing well. She's enjoyed her visits to her (very attractive) orthopedic surgeon who declared just last week that she's in the clear and won't require surgery. She'll start physical therapy & get rid of her sling within the next couple of weeks. Thanks so everyone for your expressions of care sent her way - you really brightened her days!
